About Star Struck Panda
Your ultimate cosplay resource — built for every fandom, skill level, and budget
Our Mission
Star Struck Panda exists for one reason: to be the most useful cosplay resource on the web. Not the biggest for its own sake. Not the flashiest. The most useful — comprehensive enough to answer the question you actually have, beginner-friendly enough not to lose you in jargon, and broad enough to cover every corner of this wonderfully creative hobby.
We publish step-by-step tutorials, character guides, and practical advice across more than 1,340 articles. Whether you’re sewing your very first costume or refining a competition-level build you’ve been working on for months, you’re in the right place.
What We Cover
Cosplay is a big tent. Characters come from anime, comics, video games, film, television, mythology, original designs, and places in between. Skill levels range from absolute beginner to professional craftsperson. Budgets range from “I have $40 and a thrift store nearby” to “I’m investing in competition-grade materials.” We try to show up for all of it.
Here’s what you’ll find across the site:
- Costume Crafting & Sewing — Patterning, fabric selection, construction techniques, beginner sewing fundamentals, and advanced tailoring methods
- Anime Cosplay — Character-accurate guides for hundreds of anime series, from shonen classics to seasonal releases
- Superhero & Comic Book Characters — Marvel, DC, and indie titles — suit construction, cowl-making, and prop builds
- Video Game Characters — Translating pixel art, 3D polygonal designs, and stylized game aesthetics into real-world wearable costumes
- Props & Armor — EVA foam, Worbla, thermoplastics, 3D printing, and finishing techniques for props and armor pieces of every scale
- Wigs, Makeup & Hair — Wig styling, face paint, special effects makeup, and character-accurate hair transformations
- Convention Preparation — How to pack, transport, wear, and repair your costume — plus hall contest tips and con survival guides
- Group & Couples Cosplay — Coordination strategies, split builds, and duo/group concepts across every fandom
- Budget Cosplay — How to build impressive costumes without spending a fortune — thrift store finds, smart sourcing, and clever substitutions
Our Approach
We believe cosplay should be accessible. The barrier to entry should be information, not intimidation. A cosplay guide that assumes you already know everything isn’t a guide — it’s a gatekeeping exercise. We try hard not to do that.
Every guide on this site is written to be understood by someone who is approaching that topic for the first time, while still being detailed enough to be genuinely useful to people who already have some experience. We explain terms. We give context. We acknowledge that not everyone has the same tools, the same budget, or the same amount of build time.
We also try to represent all fandoms fairly. There’s no hierarchy here — a well-researched guide for a niche indie game character gets the same care and attention as a guide for the most recognizable superhero in the world.
Celebrating the Community
The cosplay community is one of the most genuinely welcoming creative communities we’ve seen. People share techniques freely, encourage newcomers, celebrate each other’s builds, and push the craft forward in ways that are remarkable to watch. This site exists as part of that tradition of sharing — taking what the community knows and making it easier to find.
We deeply respect the creators, craftspeople, and cosplayers whose expertise has shaped everything you’ll find here. This is a resource site that celebrates what they’ve built and tries to pass that knowledge on.
A Note on Our Content
